During his visit to Ferghana region, the president of the Republic of Uzbekistan held meetings with foreign investors and participated in the launch ceremony for the construction of new enterprises. Various foreign investment projects were presented, including Korean initiatives. The KoKand Free Economic Zone has implemented approximately 100 projects worth $370 million, fostering 900 new jobs and producing products worth 1.5 trillion UZS in the first half of this year.

One noticeable project in the region is the mineral fertilizer plant developed in collaboration with the Singaporean company Indorma. The project is currently expanding, with the second production stage being launched and the third stage commencing. This expansion is expected to yield over 300,000 tons of products annually and generate an additional $50 million in exports.

Efficient usage of water resources is another focus area. Over the past seven years, $630 million in investment has created more than 400 megawatts of new capacity along with increased hydroelectric capacity to 2.2 gigawatts. Opportunities have been identified for the construction of 200 small and micro-hydroelectric power plants, and separate program has been adopted to facilitate this development. Within this framework, two small hydroelectric power stations were built in remote areas of Fergana district: a 2.2 megawatts station in Shakhimardan, and a 430 kilowatt station in Yuqori Vodil village. These stations will provide uninterrupted electricity to the residents of nearby mahallas.

The visit underscores Uzbekistan's commitment to economic development, renewable energy, and sustainable resource management.
