△ Event Overview

UNIDO Investment and Technology Promotion Office (UNIDO ITPO Korea) participated in ITB Asia, held from October 23 to 25 at Marina Bay Sands & Convention Center in Singapore. ITB Asia, the largest tourism-specialized exhibition in Asia, showcases various trends and business solutions across the travel and tourism industry, including tourism tech and MICE. This year, approximately 1,300 companies and institutions participated.

At this event, six Laotian companies explored business opportunities, attended B2B and walk-in meetings, participated in seminars, and gained insights into the latest trends in relevant industries.

Through such activities, UNIDO ITPO Korea has laid the groundwork for Laos companies to 1) promote services and solutions, 2) expand global networks, and 3) establish a foundation for entering overseas markets.

During the exhibition, 6 companies visited 350 booths and conducted 111 business matching meetings. This event provided opportunities for diverse business collaboration in the tourism sector and expanded global networks.

In addition, participating companies discovered B2B and B2G business opportunities and attracted customers by visiting national promotional pavilions (Seoul, Busan, Gyeonggi, Thailand, Finland, etc.) and participating in side events (industry trend sessions and seminars).

The tourism industry is one of the critical sectors fostered in Laos's National Socio-Economic Development Plan (2021-2025) and is a driving force in the country’s economy.

Participating companies held in-depth meetings related to overseas tourism market expansion, including △ Mekong River cruise tours (Laos-Vietnam), △ pilgrimage tourism packages (Laos-India), and △ beauty and medical tourism (Laos-Korea).

UNIDO ITPO Korea participated in the event to promote economic growth and the development of tourism businesses in Laos. They focused on enabling Lao companies to gain insights into new tourism services and solutions, expand their global networks, and promote joint tourism packages with neighboring countries (Vietnam, India, etc.) to activate the tourism sector.

UNIDO ITPO Korea plans to continue supporting Laos and other developing countries in technology investment and cooperation while launching various initiatives to expand the global network.
