On June 13th, UNIDO ITPO Korea organized a groundbreaking seminar tilted "Startup Ecosystem Seminar on Creating Startup Supportive Ecosystem and Stimulating Entrepreneurial Growth in Uzbekistan" in Tashkent as part of its Advisory Programme in Uzbekistan.
The seminar, organized in cooperation with the Agency of Innovative Development under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovations of the Republic of Uzbekistan and KOICA. The seminar was particularly significant as it was held during the visit of President of the Republic of Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol, to Uzbekistan, highlighting the growing ties and collaborative efforts between the two nations in fostering innovation and economic development.
The seminar was attended by a total of 50 participants, including representatives from government organizations, business incubators, startup accelerators, and regional administrations, including 30 attendees on-site and 20 online participants. Notable figures included Mr. Rajabbayev Sharof, Director of Agency of Innovative Development and Dr. Sung-Hyun Cho, Head of Divison at the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development.
The seminar covered a various facets of building a thriving startup ecosystem, including the incumbation ssytems in Korea, the current status of uzbekistan incubation systems, and suggestions for them. In particular, the seminar emphasized the urgent need for a coherent strategy to support startups in Uzbekistan. The discussion that followed the seminar provided a clear path for implementing a robust startup incubation systems in Uzbekistan based on the successful model of Korea.
This event marks a significant step towards creating a vibrant startup ecosystem in Uzbekistan. Furthermore, the collboration between UNIDO ITPO Korea, KOICA, and the Agency for Innovative Development promises to bring transformative changes, empowering entrepreneurs and bolstering the nation's economy.
