UNIDO (HQ) 2023 Annual Report

The 2023 Annual Report of the United Nations Inudstrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has been published. 


In the foreward of the Annual Rport, Director-General Gerd Muller mentioned that "Industrialized countries must fulfil their commitments to reach the SDGs, the business sector needs to invest more in sustainable development, and private investments need to be aligned with the SDGs." Furthermore, he emphasized that "UNIDO is ready to take up these tasks and play a key role in global sustainable economic development."


He also noted that "In 2023, funds mobilization for UNIDO's technical cooperation reached a new high." and mentioned that "2023 was also a year that saw a 25 per cent increase in technical cooperation delivery at UNIDO, with major new flagship programmes and projects being initiated."


Furthermore, he highlighted key events scheduled to take place in 2024, including the Fourth Internatioanl United Nations Conference on Small Island Developing States, the Third Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, the United Nations Summit of the Future, and a major UNIDO conference, "A World Without Hunger Is Possible", which will be held in cooperation with the Government of Ethiopia and the African Union. 


In the concluding remarks, he emphasized UNIDO's key role in bringing technology, expertise, knowledge and investment from developed countries to developing countries, and noted that through its work, UNIDO can turn the shared responsibility into more global action for the benefit of all.
